Boundaries For Adult Children

  • Acknowledge that it’s normal and okay for you to have boundaries.

  • Share your boundaries with your parents as soon as you are aware that you have some.

  • Understand that your parents pushing back on your boundaries is due to this being a new thing for them and their beliefs about how children should act. 

  • Consider how they might respond, but don’t let it hold you back.

  • When you state your boundary, be clear about what happens if your boundary is not respected.
