Ways To Deal With People Who Are Emotionally Draining

  • Talk to them less frequently

  • Mute them on social media 

  • Allow their calls to go to voicemail

  • Leave texts unread until you feel like addressing them

  • Unfollow them on social media

  • Designate a set time that’s best for you to talk

  • Allow them access based on your ability to tolerate them

  • Understand your emotions (what are you feeling and why?)

  • Be assertive about what they can do to make the interactions more pleasant (you can ask people to change, but you can't force them to change)
